Alii Palau Airlines Launches Operations and Eyes Pacific Expansion

Alii Palau Airlines, based in Koror, has recently initiated operations, marking a significant milestone in the airline industry. The startup, in collaboration with Drukair, successfully conducted a Singapore Changi-Koror roundtrip using an A320-200N on November 23. Managed by Akanksha Johr, Alii Palau Airlines expressed its ambitious plans to not only expand its network but also diversify its mode of operation.

The airline’s current once-weekly flights, set to increase to twice weekly starting December 21, establish the only direct link between Koror and Singapore. According to Johr, this service is a “gamechanger,” leveraging the strategic Changi hub and providing one-stop travel options for passengers heading to the island.

Data from Flightradar24 ADS-B confirmed the successful operation of A320-200neo on the Singapore-Koror route before resuming its regular duties with Drukair.

While Alii Palau Airlines is still in the process of securing its air operator’s certificate, it relies on the capacity provided by its partner, Drukair. Addressing speculations, a spokesperson clarified that the airline currently has no immediate plans to acquire new aircraft. However, the spokesperson did reveal the airline’s ongoing studies aimed at expanding its network to Japan, Korea, Yap, and Pohnpei. Explaining the complexity of operating in the Western Pacific, the spokesperson emphasized that these expansion plans require careful consideration and time.

Koror Airport, the primary gateway to Palau, is currently served by six scheduled passenger airlines. However, Alii Palau Airlines aims to stand out by capitalizing on the new Singapore service, presenting a “huge opportunity” to connect travelers from Europe, India, and Southeast Asia to Palau.
