Garuda Indonesia Initiates Tender for ACMI Lease During 2024 Hajj Season
Garuda Indonesia (GA, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) has announced a procurement notice inviting eligible parties to bid for the wet lease of widebody aircraft during the 2024 Hajj season. The airline is seeking either B777, A330, or B747 aircraft on an ACMI/damp-lease basis for roundtrip flights between Indonesia and Madinah and Jeddah. The lease period is from May 13 to July 21, 2024, with a preference for aircraft manufactured not before 2001 and capable of completing sectors without technical stops.
As Indonesia, the world’s most populous Muslim nation, prepares for the Hajj pilgrimage, Garuda Indonesia aims to secure additional widebody aircraft to accommodate the increased demand for flights between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia during the religious season. The carrier has dedicated a substantial fleet for previous Hajj seasons and now extends an invitation for eligible parties to participate in the leasing tender.
Interested participants must be the owner and/or operator of the aircraft, holding a valid air operator’s certificate. The procurement notice emphasizes that participants should act on their behalf without involving brokers or intermediaries.
Garuda Indonesia is anticipating robust demand for Hajj flights in 2024, reflecting the significant number of Muslims in Indonesia embarking on the pilgrimage. The airline plays a crucial role in facilitating this religious journey, transporting pilgrims between Indonesia and the holy cities of Madinah and Jeddah in Saudi Arabia.
