The Teamsters Forms Coalition to Unionize Delta Air Lines Workers

The Teamsters, along with members of the Association of Flight Attendants (AFA) and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM), have joined forces to create a coalition dedicated to unionizing more than 45,000 workers at Delta Air Lines.

The Teamsters are leading efforts to organize Delta technicians, while AFA is focused on signing up flight attendants, and IAM is providing support to ramp, cargo, and tower workers in their efforts to establish their union.

Labor unions in the United States have been taking a firm stance in various industries, including industrial, automotive, entertainment, and healthcare, to secure better contracts for workers. Notably, the recent UAW strikes at the Detroit Three automakers resulted in record contracts, marking significant victories for labor unions in negotiations with major corporations.

“Our three unions are actively engaging with Delta workers, knocking on thousands of doors, and having conversations to build support for unionization,” stated Wamon Hock, the Teamsters’ southern region coordinator.

Earlier this year, airline operators throughout North America faced increased demands from pilots and flight attendants seeking improved pay and working conditions. Delta, in response, ratified a new contract with its workers in March, which included substantial wage and benefits increases totaling $7 billion over four years.
