Lufthansa Technik has unveiled the luxurious CelestialSTAR design for Boeing’s upcoming BBJ 777-9 business jet, primarily targeting Middle Eastern royal families at the Dubai Airshow.

Boeing Business Jets, Boeing’s private aviation division, specializes in crafting private aircraft based on its commercial airliner models, including the BBJ 737 MAX, BBJ 787, and the upcoming BBJ 777X.

This opulent design, named the CelestialSTAR, primarily targets Middle Eastern royal families. The BBJ 777-9 boasts a lavish and contemporary palace-like interior, covering over 3,600 square feet of living space. It’s specifically tailored to meet the demands of a new generation of VVIP and head-of-state aircraft.

The cabin is expected to be available for the ultra-wealthy to enjoy starting in 2025 when the BBJ 777X enters into service, following several years of production delays. The BBJ 777-9 is part of the larger 777X family, which has been in production since 2013.

In addition to the BBJ 777-9, Boeing is also developing other variants within the 777X family, including passenger variants like the 777-8 and 777-9, as well as the 777-8F freighter. The BBJ version of the 777X was first introduced in 2018, catering to the elite clientele seeking the utmost in private aviation luxury.

Lufthansa Technik revealed a luxurious design concept for Boeing’s upcoming BBJ 777-9 business jet. The opulent cabin boasts a private suite with a bedroom, bathroom, and “Work&Balance” area. The suite’s specially designed windows create a homely atmosphere, and the bathroom features a massive rainfall shower, the largest ever designed for a business jet. The cabin can transform into an entertainment center with options like a television or 180-degree digital artwork.

Adjacent to the suite is the “Work&Balance” area, taking advantage of the 777X’s ample cabin width, with swivel chairs, divans, and a headdesk. Separated by the Celestial Lounge, which acts as a lobby with a bar and couches, is the “Conference&Dining” room inspired by Middle Eastern “majlis.” It features a circle table and chairs for dining or conferences, with monitors that can be lowered into the table. Additionally, the cabin includes passenger cabins for a large entourage, with Deluxe Suites, business class, and premium economy areas.

Lufthansa Technik’s CelestialSTAR design is the first derived directly from Boeing Business Jets’ BBJ 777-9 design data, ensuring technical feasibility. Other design firms have also presented their concepts for the 777X interior, featuring similarly luxurious amenities like bedrooms, lounges, and bathrooms.
