Elite Airways Faces Operating Authority Revocation After Dormancy, Seeks to Reapply

The US Department of Transportation (DOT) has revoked the operating authority of Elite Airways after the airline ceased operations in July 2022. Citing dormancy as the reason for its decision, the DOT had previously granted a 30-day waiver on the 12-month dormancy deadline, but declined further extensions.

Elite Airways is now seeking to reapply for economic authority with the DOT. Despite earlier statements that a potential buyer had expressed interest, the DOT considers a potential sale not as good cause for further waivers, emphasizing the need for a clear demonstration of the airline’s fitness, retention of assets, and progress towards resuming operations.

Elite Airways confirmed to ch-aviation that it is in the process of re-filing with the DOT for economic authority, indicating its commitment to resume operations.
