Global Airlines, the UK-based start-up set to launch premium transatlantic routes, has joined forces with Hi Fly to facilitate the induction of its first A380-800. Hi Fly, renowned for being the sole operator of a second-hand A380, will provide invaluable expertise to Global Airlines during the crucial stages of technical acceptance and maintenance for the quadjet.

James Asquith, CEO of Global Airlines, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, emphasizing Hi Fly’s comprehensive knowledge of the A380 as a valuable asset for the start-up. Hi Fly Malta, the Maltese arm of the Portuguese ACMI/charter specialist, previously leased its only A380, 9H-MIP, and will now leverage its experience to support Global Airlines in ensuring a smooth introduction of the iconic aircraft.

Global Airlines acquired its first A380, previously operated by Hi Fly, earlier this year. While the aircraft is currently in storage at Lourdes/Tarbes, Global Airlines has revealed plans to introduce three more A380s to its fleet, positioning itself as a player in the niche market of premium transatlantic travel.

The start-up has set its sights on launching services in 2024, with initial routes connecting London to New York and Los Angeles International. Despite yet to secure airport slots in the UK, Global Airlines remains optimistic about its inaugural A380 taking to the skies for European flights in the coming months.

While specific details about the AOC application and registration are pending, Global Airlines is poised to make a significant impact on the transatlantic travel landscape with its premium A380 services. Stay tuned for further updates as the airline progresses towards its launch and solidifies its position in the aviation industry.
