Windstar Cruises Launches New South American Adventures Featuring Machu Picchu and Galapagos

Windstar Cruises is taking its boutique cruising experience to new horizons with the introduction of its first-ever South American cruises. Beginning in December 2025, the all-suite yacht Star Pride will offer guests a unique opportunity to explore some of the most sought-after destinations in South America, including the legendary Machu Picchu in Peru and the enchanting Galapagos Islands in Ecuador.

The 16-day Marvels of Latin America Cruise Tour, starting from Colón, Panama and culminating in Lima, Peru (or the reverse route), incorporates an exciting pre- or post-cruise tour to Machu Picchu. Additionally, guests can opt for a mid-cruise overland excursion to the Galapagos Islands. For those seeking a shorter journey, an 11-day Marvels of Ecuador, Peru, and the Panama Canal itinerary is also available, featuring the cruise and the optional Galapagos Island overland tour.

The inaugural sailing on December 27, 2025, features a daylight transit of the iconic Panama Canal and includes overnight stays in Manta, Guayaquil, and Lima for extensive exploration. The itinerary also covers less frequented but equally fascinating destinations like Machala and Trujillo, offering access to the archaeological site of Chan Chan.

The Machu Picchu tour, available as a pre- or post-cruise option, spans five days and includes visits to the Sacred Valley, a train ride on the Vistadome to Machu Picchu with a private guide, and explorations of Cusco and Lima. The tour is designed to immerse guests in local culture and history, with stays in luxury boutique hotels and meals featuring local Peruvian cuisine.

The Galapagos excursion is a three-day adventure that begins with a flight to the islands, a visit to the Santa Cruz Highlands to see Giant Tortoises, and a tour of the Charles Darwin Research Station. Guests will also embark on a ferry tour to one of the Galapagos’ uninhabited islands, offering an intimate wildlife experience.
