Boeing Boosts Delivery Rates to Reduce Backlog of 737 Max and 787 Dreamliners by 2024

Boeing is intensifying its efforts to expedite the delivery of its backlog of undelivered aircraft. The aerospace giant is targeting the completion of most deliveries for the remaining 200 737 MAX and 50 787 Dreamliners by the close of 2024. In a notable achievement, Boeing delivered 50 aircraft in June 2023, nearly doubling its delivery count from April, which stood at 26.

The increase in 737 production has been significant, with Boeing dispatching 36 aircraft in June alone, 35 of which were 737 MAX jets distributed among ten specified customers. Additionally, two 737 MAX aircraft were delivered to the consistently anonymous customer(s).

Despite encountering another quality control issue that impacted production, Boeing managed to deliver eight 787 Dreamliners in May. The deliveries included two 787-8s to American Airlines, one 787-9 each to AerCap, Air Lease Corporation, and Turkish Airlines, as well as 787-10s to the Air France-KLM Group, British Airways, and EVA Air.

This accelerated delivery schedule underscores Boeing’s commitment to reducing its inventory of undelivered jets and meeting customer demand more efficiently. As Boeing ramps up production and overcomes quality control challenges, the industry watches closely to see how this strategy will impact the company’s recovery and future performance.
