TAAG Angola Airlines has officially commenced its regular cargo flight operations from the New Luanda International Airport, marking a significant step forward in the airline’s expansion strategy. The airline has introduced a weekly cargo service, departing Luanda every Monday, to facilitate trade and connectivity between Angola and key regional destinations including Lagos, Nigeria, and Brazzaville, Republic of Congo.

This development follows TAAG’s announcement of incorporating a freighter Boeing 737-800BCF into its fleet, enhancing its cargo transport capabilities. The Boeing 737-800 D2-TBU freighter is equipped to carry up to 23.9 tons of cargo, offering 141.5 cubic meters of space on the main deck and an additional 43.7 cubic meters for bulk cargo on the lower deck. With 11 pallet positions, the aircraft can accommodate 10 contoured 96in x 125in pallets, optimizing efficiency for cargo operations.

In January 2024, TAAG reported the transportation of approximately 1,000 tons of cargo across domestic, regional, and international routes, demonstrating the airline’s commitment to supporting Angola’s economic growth and strengthening its role in the global supply chain. The initiation of cargo flights from the New Luanda International Airport is poised to enhance logistical capabilities and provide a boost to regional commerce.
