Turkish Technic, in collaboration with Elbe Flugzeugwerke (EFW), the Airbus Passenger to Freighter (P2F) conversion specialist, has successfully undertaken its first-ever conversion of an Airbus A330 from a passenger jet to a cargo aircraft. This significant milestone in the aviation maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) sector was marked by the conversion and reinstallation of the upper frame shell cutout, a critical step in fitting the main deck cargo door.

Scheduled for completion in mid-2024, this project initiates a series of P2F conversions responding to the increasing market demand for freighter aircraft. Mikail Akbulut, CEO of Turkish Technic, expressed his enthusiasm about this pivotal achievement, stating, “We are happy to reach a major milestone on the first conversion as we partner with EFW to meet high-level demand in the market. Passenger-to-freighter conversions require a combination of industry-leading expertise, structural skills, and operational excellence.”

Turkish Technic, leveraging its comprehensive experience and working in close collaboration with its partners and suppliers, is well-positioned to deliver top-notch technical services and innovative solutions. “We’re looking forward to successfully completing the conversion and providing the best possible performance for our customers with our extensive structural and avionic modification capabilities,” Akbulut added.

This partnership between Turkish Technic and EFW not only highlights the capabilities and expertise of both entities in the evolving aviation industry but also underscores their commitment to addressing the dynamic needs of the global air cargo market.
