Viking’s tradition of excellence continues with the float out of its latest Nile River marvel, the Viking Hathor, marking a significant milestone in the ship’s journey towards its maiden voyage slated for August. The ceremony, symbolizing the first time the vessel graced the water, was celebrated at the Massara shipyard in Cairo. Now, Viking Hathor enters the final phase of construction, soon ready to welcome 82 guests in its 41 staterooms, echoing the luxury and design of its sister ships, Viking Osiris and Viking Aton.

Designed specifically for the Nile’s unique wonders, Viking Hathor boasts a sleek square bow and the signature indoor/outdoor Aquavit Terrace, promising unmatched views and comfort. It joins Viking’s expanding fleet dedicated to Egypt’s timeless river, with Viking Sobek set to follow in 2025.

Viking Hathor will host guests on the enriching 12-day Pharaohs & Pyramids itinerary, offering an immersive exploration of Egypt’s heart. The adventure begins with a three-night stay in Cairo at a premier hotel, featuring visits to iconic landmarks including the Great Pyramids, Sakkara, and the Grand Egyptian Museum. A flight to Luxor unveils the majestic Luxor and Karnak Temples, setting the stage for an unforgettable 8-day cruise. This journey through history covers the Valley of the Queens, the Valley of the Kings, Abu Simbel, and a unique visit to a Nubian village, culminating in a return to Cairo.

Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking, expressed enthusiasm for Egypt’s enduring appeal, stating, “Egypt is a phenomenal destination, and we are pleased with the continued interest in our Nile River voyages. With the float out of the Viking Hathor, we look forward to welcoming more guests to experience this fantastic region.”

For those wishing to delve deeper into the mysteries of ancient Egypt, Viking offers the optional 5-day British Collections of Ancient Egypt pre-cruise extension in London. This includes an exclusive visit to the British Museum’s Egyptian Collection and explorations of other museums housing Egyptian treasures. Additional extensions include a 3-night stay in Istanbul before the cruise and a 4-night journey to Jordan, featuring Petra and the Dead Sea, after the cruise.

With Viking Hathor, Viking not only promises a journey of discovery along the Nile but also an extension of its commitment to blending educational travel with luxury, catering to the intellectually curious and culturally minded traveler.
