In a significant announcement, MSC Cruises has unveiled plans for the highly anticipated naming ceremony of its latest flagship, MSC World America, set to take place in Miami on April 9, 2025. This event will not only celebrate the launch of the mega-flagship but also underscore MSC’s profound commitment to the North American market and the city of Miami. The ceremony, to be hosted at MSC’s new PortMiami terminal, promises to be a lavish affair, featuring the traditional champagne bottle christening and a series of immersive onboard activities that highlight the ship’s innovative features.

Attendees of the naming ceremony will have the exclusive opportunity to embark on a celebratory sailing, including an overnight stay at MSC’s private Bahamian island, Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve. This exclusive getaway promises a vibrant beach party and the island’s renowned lighthouse show, followed by a leisurely day at sea brimming with the ship’s vast array of activities and amenities.

Positioning itself as the largest vessel in the MSC fleet to serve the U.S. market and the first to be powered by liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the region, MSC World America is designed with the North American traveler in mind, offering a perfect blend of European sophistication and American comfort across its 22 decks and 2,614 staterooms.

Rubén A. Rodríguez, President of MSC Cruises USA, expressed excitement for the ship’s arrival, highlighting the strategic significance of Miami as the ideal location for the unveiling. “The introduction of MSC World America represents a key milestone in our ongoing efforts to cater to the North American market and attract more international visitors to the Caribbean,” Rodriguez stated.

Daniella Levine Cava, Mayor of Miami-Dade County, also celebrated MSC Cruises’ investment in the community, noting the positive impact of the new terminal on local employment and the economy. “We are delighted to welcome MSC World America to PortMiami and look forward to fostering a successful partnership,” she remarked.

Following its debut, MSC World America will commence its inaugural season on April 12, 2025, offering 7-night Eastern and Western Caribbean cruises with stops in destinations like Puerto Plata, San Juan, Costa Maya, Cozumel, Isla de Roatan, and Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve.

In line with MSC Cruises’ commitment to sustainability, MSC World America boasts several environmentally friendly features, including LNG propulsion, shore power capabilities, and advanced water and energy conservation technologies. These initiatives underscore the company’s dedication to minimizing its environmental footprint and safeguarding marine ecosystems.

With its debut, MSC World America is poised to redefine luxury cruising in the North American market, offering guests an unparalleled experience aboard a ship that marries innovation with environmental stewardship.
