Pegasus Airlines Debuts Direct Flights from Ankara to Lisbon, Enhancing Cultural and Economic Ties
Pegasus Airlines has introduced a direct flight route connecting Ankara, Türkiye, with Lisbon, Portugal, marking a significant enhancement in travel between the two capital cities. This new service not only expands Pegasus Airlines’ route network but also establishes a direct link between Türkiye and Portugal, fostering greater cultural and economic exchanges.
Onur Dedeköylü, Chief Commercial Officer at Pegasus Airlines, emphasized the strategic importance of the new route. “Our Ankara-Lisbon service extends our network into Portugal, offering a direct connection between the capitals of both nations. This route reflects our commitment to boosting Türkiye’s tourism by linking culturally and economically significant destinations,” he stated. Dedeköylü also highlighted the unique attributes of both cities: “Lisbon, as one of the oldest cities in the world, and Ankara, a vibrant metropolis rich in history, are both prime locations for leisure and business tourism. We anticipate facilitating hundreds of thousands of tourist visits between the two countries in the coming years.”
João Macedo, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Portugal, also commented on the potential impact of the new flights. “The direct route from Ankara to Lisbon is more than a link between two cities; it’s a bridge between two capitals. This connection will enhance mutual understanding and promote growth in tourism and trade, strengthening human ties that are expected to endure well into the future,” he said.
