“The White Lotus” Season 3: Exclusive Filming Locations Revealed in Thailand’s Luxurious Resorts
“The White Lotus,” HBO’s critically acclaimed anthology series, is setting its sights on Thailand for its much-anticipated third season. After much speculation, the filming locations have now been officially disclosed, promising to bring the lush landscapes and luxurious resorts of Thailand to screens worldwide. Here’s where the series is shooting and what fans can expect from these exotic settings.
The production kicked off earlier this spring, choosing the vibrant city of Bangkok and the picturesque islands of Phuket and Ko Samui as its primary locales. The announcement was made jointly by HBO and the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), which expressed enthusiasm about showcasing Thailand’s rich culture and stunning scenery through the series.
Following the tradition of filming at opulent Four Seasons properties, season three is being shot at the Four Seasons Resort Koh Samui. Nestled among the island’s verdant hills, this resort is renowned for its private pool villas and expansive family residences, offering breathtaking views and unparalleled luxury.
In addition to Koh Samui, the series will also feature scenes from the Anantara Mai Khao Phuket Villas. Located on Phuket, this resort is known for its luxurious villas that blend seamlessly into the surrounding tropical landscape, providing an ideal backdrop for the series’ dramatic and comedic twists.
“The White Lotus,” created by Mike White, has been a vehicle for satire and drama set against the backdrop of the fictional White Lotus resort chain located in popular tourist destinations. The show delves into the lives of its guests and staff, exposing their dysfunctional relationships and the often-comic absurdities of affluent travelers. The first season took viewers to Hawai’i at the Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, while the second season transported audiences to Sicily at the San Domenico Palace, Taormina, a Four Seasons Hotel.
With its previous seasons boosting tourism at their filmed locations, the set-jetting trend is expected to continue with Thailand’s feature in season three. TAT Governor Thapanee Kiatphaibool highlighted Thailand’s diverse offerings from historical sites and natural beauty to luxury wellness experiences, anticipating a surge in interest and visitors inspired by the series.
The cast for the new season includes Leslie Bibb, Jason Isaacs, Michelle Monaghan, Parker Posey, and Natasha Rothwell, who returns from season one. They will be joined by Thai actors Dom Hetrakul and Tayme Thapthimthong, adding local flavor to the international ensemble.
Set to premiere in 2025 on HBO and stream on Max, “The White Lotus” season three is expected to be another hit, captivating audiences with its sharp narrative and stunning visuals of Thailand’s most luxurious resorts.
