Windstar Cruises has unveiled exciting plans for its latest addition, the Star Seeker, set to join the fleet in December 2025. Destined for voyages in Alaska and Japan starting in 2026, the introduction of Star Seeker marks Windstar’s much-anticipated return to these regions since 2023.

Christopher Prelog, president of Windstar Cruises, expressed enthusiasm about the expansion, noting, “We are really happy to be able to bring back Alaska and Japan for our guests. We know these are popular destinations, and we have many people asking us to return there. We can’t keep this secret any longer.”

The Star Seeker is designed to enhance the intimate cruising experience Windstar is known for, accommodating up to 224 guests in 112 suites, each featuring full private verandas and infinity windows. Following its inaugural season, another new ship, the Star Explorer, is expected to join the fleet in December 2026.

Starting in May 2026, Star Seeker will embark on a variety of Alaska cruises, including seven-, ten-, and eleven-day itineraries. Departures from Juneau or Seward, Alaska, will conclude in Vancouver, British Columbia. These cruises are designed to offer guests the opportunity to delve into Alaska’s remote wilderness, with activities like hiking, kayaking, and skiff expeditions available. Expedition leaders will enhance the experience with onboard talks about the local flora, fauna, and history.

Prelog highlighted the unique aspects of the Alaska journeys, stating, “These immersive, small group expeditions are a key part of our Alaska program and bring our guests closer to the beauty of Alaska. Being on the water and seeing the topography from that viewpoint brings the grandeur of Alaska into perspective. It’s also quiet and meditative to be out in these wild places. You never know what wildlife you might see.”

Following its Alaska season, in August 2026, Star Seeker will set course for Japan, offering the 10-day Grand Japan cruises between Tokyo and Osaka through November. These cruises will allow guests to explore the rich cultural tapestry and scenic beauty of Japan.

Bookings for Star Seeker’s 2026 voyages will open in early August, providing eager travelers the chance to secure their spots on what promises to be an unforgettable journey through some of the world’s most captivating destinations.
