AmaWaterways Launches Early Reservations for 2026 River Cruises Due to High Demand
In response to the overwhelming popularity of its 2024 and 2025 seasons, AmaWaterways has announced the early opening of reservations for its 2026 river cruise season. This strategic move allows travelers and their advisors to book their preferred river cruises and land packages well in advance.
For the 2026 season, AmaWaterways is expanding its fleet with two new ships. The AmaSofia is set to begin voyages along the Danube River starting May 24, 2026, and the AmaMaya will navigate the Mekong River starting in August 2026. These additions are anticipated to enhance the line’s offerings and appeal to a broader audience of river cruise enthusiasts.
Alongside the introduction of new ships, AmaWaterways is also launching innovative land packages for the 2026 season. For travelers embarking on the seven-night Taste of Bordeaux sailing, there will be a choice between a new four-night pre-cruise land package that includes two nights each in Madrid and San Sebastián, and a three-night stay in Paris.
Additionally, the 2026 itineraries will introduce fresh excursions for those cruising along the Rhine and Moselle rivers in Europe. Highlights include a visit to Utrecht, a walking tour in Baden-Baden, and a visit to Strasbourg, home to France’s oldest Christmas market, on the Rhine itineraries. Those traveling on the Moselle will have the opportunity to explore Wiesbaden, famed for its Roman-era thermal hot springs.
AmaWaterways is also set to become the first major river cruise line to navigate Colombia’s Magdalena River in 2025, with bookings already filling up for that year. The 2026 sailings will provide additional opportunities for those interested in exploring this new destination. Pre- and post-cruise land packages include visits to Panama City and Medellín, Colombia.
The line’s offerings also extend to Egypt, where the AmaDahlia and the newly launched AmaLilia will offer an 11-night itinerary that combines a seven-night Nile cruise with stays in Cairo, and optional land packages to Dubai and Jordan.
For those drawn to the natural beauty of southern Africa, the line’s five Chobe River itineraries are ideal. These itineraries offer visits to Victoria Falls, Table Mountain, and the chance to witness the region’s spectacular wildlife. In 2026, guests can secure their spots on the 28-guest Zambezi Queen river ship.
A dedicated brochure for the 2026 river cruise season will be available later this summer, providing travel advisors and their clients with detailed information on these exciting new offerings.
