Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board Prepares for Routes Americas 2025

Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, a key co-host of Routes Americas 2025, shared insights with Routes in Bogota about its robust inbound tourism and upcoming plans for the event in the Bahamas.

In 2023, Nassau Paradise Island experienced a record-breaking year, surpassing visitor forecasts with over 9 million travelers visiting the Bahamas. This surge marks significant growth from the 7.2 million guests recorded in 2019, showcasing resilience and recovery post-pandemic.

The increase in visitors was bolstered by expanded flight options to Lynden Pindling International Airport (NAS) from the U.S. West Coast. Alaska Airlines introduced seasonal service from Los Angeles (LAX) and Seattle, while JetBlue Airways also launched a route from LAX, enhancing connectivity and accessibility to the island paradise.

Joy Jibrilu, CEO of Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, emphasized the potential in Latin America, noting that while NAS currently serves Panama with Copa Airlines, there remains untapped market potential in the region.

“We are targeting key markets such as Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Mexico,” Jibrilu stated. “Securing additional airlift from Latin America would be transformative for our destination.” She highlighted a 40% increase in visitor arrivals from Brazil between 2019 and 2023, underscoring growing interest in the Bahamas from South American travelers.

Tourism plays a pivotal role in the Bahamian economy, and to further stimulate air network expansion, Nassau Paradise Island Promotion Board, in collaboration with NAS and The Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, Investments & Aviation, will host Routes Americas 2025.

This prestigious event will serve as a platform to showcase Nassau’s market potential to airline executives, airport authorities, and tourism officials from across the Americas and globally. It aims to foster strategic partnerships and explore new route opportunities that will continue to drive tourism growth and economic prosperity in the Bahamas.
