Arajet, the Dominican Republic-based ULCC, is poised for significant expansion with plans to introduce nearly 20 new international routes from Punta Cana International Airport (PUJ). Set to establish a new base at PUJ in November in collaboration with Grupo PuntaCana, Arajet has applied for rights to operate routes spanning destinations in Argentina, Canada, Colombia, Peru, and more. This strategic move aims to capitalize on underserved markets from PUJ, including popular destinations like Cancun and Cartagena. With a fleet of 10 Boeing 737-8 aircraft and 19 more on order, Arajet also eyes its inaugural routes to the U.S. pending regulatory approval, bolstered by recent negotiations for an open skies agreement between the Dominican Republic and the U.S.
