JetBlue Announces Major Route Network Overhaul: Key Changes to Know

JetBlue has unveiled significant updates to its route network, marking a major shift in its operations. The Queens-based airline is pausing or eliminating service on numerous routes, withdrawing from several cities, expanding popular East Coast routes, and introducing its Mint business-class cabin to more domestic destinations.

Route Suspensions and Eliminations

JetBlue is making notable cuts, withdrawing from seven airports entirely:

  • Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT), North Carolina
  • Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP), Minnesota
  • San Antonio International Airport (SAT), Texas
  • Hollywood Burbank Airport (BUR), California
  • Tallahassee International Airport (TLH), Florida
  • Palm Springs International Airport (PSP), California
  • Pointe-à-Pitre International Airport (PTP), Guadeloupe

In addition to these eliminations, the carrier is discontinuing service on 15 routes starting Fall 2024, with several facing seasonal suspensions. Affected routes include:

  • Los Angeles (LAX) to Nassau, Bahamas (NAS): Ending September 7, 2024
  • Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) to CLT and MSP: Ending October 26, 2024
  • Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) to Montego Bay, Jamaica (MBJ): Ending October 26, 2024
  • LAX to Los Cabos, Mexico (SJD) and Salt Lake City (SLC): Ending October 26, 2024

Other routes will see temporary pauses or seasonal adjustments, with a few routes not resuming in the winter.

Expanding Route Network

On a positive note, JetBlue is expanding its reach with the addition of a dozen new routes. These additions focus on bolstering connectivity in the Northeast and Florida. New year-round services include:

  • Presque Isle International Airport (PQI), Maine to Boston (BOS): Daily service starting September 5
  • Long Island MacArthur Airport (ISP) to Orlando (MCO) and Palm Beach International Airport (PBI): Year-round service starting October 24 and 25, respectively

Seasonal routes include:

  • Buffalo Niagara International Airport (BUF) to PBI: Starting October 26
  • Rhode Island T. F. Green International Airport (PVD) to Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW): Daily service from October 27

Additionally, JetBlue is increasing its flight frequency from Buffalo and Albany to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, and adding more daily flights from Syracuse to Orlando.

Mint Cabin Expansion

JetBlue is also enhancing its domestic service by expanding its popular Mint business-class cabin. All flights between Boston and Phoenix this winter will feature Mint, reflecting the airline’s commitment to offering a premium experience on more routes.
