Princess Cruises’ newest ship, the Star Princess, has achieved a significant construction milestone by being floated out at the Fincantieri shipyard in Monfalcone, Italy. This marks the first time the 4,300-guest vessel has touched the water.

The next step for the 178,000-ton ship involves transferring it to the outfitting quay, where construction and finishing work will continue. As the second vessel in Princess Cruises’ Sphere-Class, the Star Princess is set to make its debut in the fall of 2025.

“Fincantieri has again turned vision into reality, building on the success of her sister ship, Sun Princess, which has already captured the hearts of our guests with its elegance and cutting-edge design,” stated John Padgett, president of Princess Cruises. “Together, we are creating amazing machines that will inspire adventure and deliver unforgettable experiences for all who sail with us for decades to come.”

During a float-out ceremony held last week, Padgett announced the appointment of Commodore Nick Nash and Captain Gennaro Arma as masters of the Star Princess. The company also unveiled additional senior officers for the new ship, including chief engineers, staff captains, and hotel managers, ensuring that the Star Princess will be in expert hands as it prepares to set sail.

As construction progresses, excitement builds for the Star Princess, which promises to offer innovative features and luxurious amenities designed to enhance the cruising experience. With a commitment to providing unforgettable adventures at sea, Princess Cruises continues to expand its fleet and elevate its offerings for guests.
