Philippine Airlines has launched its inaugural direct flight to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), marking a significant milestone for the airline. Flight PR 124 took off from Manila International Airport (MNL) on October 2, 2024, departing at 22:40 local time and arriving in Seattle at 19:48 local time, though it was 40 minutes behind schedule.

Seattle becomes Philippine Airlines’ sixth destination in the United States and eighth in North America. The flight aims to serve the growing Filipino-American community in the Washington and Oregon area, which is home to approximately 240,000 Filipino-Americans. Additionally, Americans are the second-largest group of tourists visiting the Philippines, with over 900,000 visitors in 2023.

Toshiko Hasegawa, Port of Seattle Commissioner, noted that Manila has long been one of the most requested routes. “Washington state is home to the country’s fourth-largest Filipino population. For over 100 years, Filipinos have contributed to the region’s arts, business, and political leadership,” Hasegawa stated.

She expressed excitement about the new service, emphasizing its importance: “Nonstop service to Manila has long been one of our most frequently requested routes, and we’re thrilled that this new flight will not only serve the Puget Sound’s Filipino community but also anyone interested in exploring the rich history, beauty, and hospitality of the Philippines.”
