Silversea Cruises has announced an exciting new project to build a 150-room hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile, the southernmost city in the world. This development aims to enhance the experience of travelers embarking on expedition cruises to Antarctica. Silversea stands out as the only cruise line homeporting in Puerto Williams during the Antarctic season, as opposed to the more common Ushuaia, Argentina.

The hotel project is being developed in partnership with a consortium of Chilean investors, with construction already underway and a completion target set for the end of 2025. This strategic move underscores Silversea’s commitment to providing unique and seamless journeys for guests exploring the polar regions.

Bert Hernandez, president of Silversea, expressed enthusiasm for the new hotel, stating, “We’re thrilled to enhance the Antarctic travel experience by offering seamless journeys that remove traditional barriers for guests to this region.” He added that this development differentiates Silversea from other polar expedition providers and reaffirms the brand’s dedication to innovation and excellence in luxury travel.

The new hotel will be nestled among lush trees and will offer breathtaking views of the surrounding Patagonian mountains and the Beagle Channel. Planned amenities include a restaurant, bar and lounge, fitness center, and a gift shop featuring local products, ensuring travelers have everything they need during their stay.

Guests sailing aboard Silversea’s Silver Endeavour, Silver Wind, and Silver Cloud will have access to these new accommodations once they open. Silversea’s Antarctica voyages typically range from six to 20 days, and the line also offers an “Antarctica Bridge” fly-cruise program, allowing guests to bypass the Drake Passage and fly directly to Antarctica.

Jason Liberty, president and CEO of Royal Caribbean Group, highlighted the hotel’s significance: “This new hotel allows us to offer an unmatched Antarctic expedition,” showcasing Silversea’s commitment to providing unforgettable experiences in one of the world’s most remote destinations.
