SuperNova Airlines, a Ukrainian cargo carrier launched during the Russian invasion, has taken delivery of its first Boeing 737-800BDSF. The airline, a subsidiary of the postal and courier company Nova Poshta, was founded in 2021 and received its airline operator’s certificate in January 2023.

CEO Yaroslav Krasnozhon highlighted the airline’s achievement during wartime, calling it a testament to Ukrainian resilience. The Boeing 737-800BDSF, converted by Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) and leased from World Star Aviation, was added to the airline’s operation specifications in September 2024 and will begin service later this year.

SuperNova’s Boeing freighter, registered UR-NPA, arrived at Vilnius International Airport in Lithuania in September after a technical flight from Guangzhou, China. Although the airline currently operates within EU airspace due to the closure of Ukrainian skies, it plans to expand operations from Ukraine’s Boryspil and Lviv airports once the war ends.

SuperNova’s first flight took place in May 2023 with an ATR 72-500F, marking the beginning of its operations as a vital link for cargo between Ukraine and Europe. World Star Aviation praised the delivery as a key step in connecting Ukraine to global markets, with the airline’s ramp-up program set to further expand its reach.

This new Boeing freighter represents a significant milestone for SuperNova, solidifying its role in the Ukrainian aviation industry’s growth despite the challenges of war.
