Alaska Airlines Launches AI-Powered Odysee for Flight Scheduling
Alaska Airlines, in partnership with UP.Labs, has introduced Odysee, a new AI-driven software platform designed to simplify flight scheduling. Launched with $5 million in seed funding from UP.Partners, Odysee was unveiled during the UP.Summit 2024 Community Day on September 29, 2024.
Odysee leverages AI and big data to optimize flight schedules by quickly analyzing how changes impact revenue, profitability, and reliability. According to Odysee CEO Steve Casley, the platform helps airline schedulers evaluate trade-offs in schedule adjustments, enabling more informed decisions. It can simulate hundreds of potential flight schedules in seconds, offering insights that far exceed traditional human capabilities.
Alaska Airlines CEO Ben Minicucci emphasized that Odysee’s AI technology is key to maximizing operational reliability, enhancing the guest experience, and boosting revenue. By placing aircraft in the right locations at optimal times, the platform ensures efficient use of each aircraft asset.
The collaboration between Alaska Airlines and UP.Labs, facilitated by Alaska Star Ventures, is set to launch more aviation and mobility startups over the next three years to address industry challenges. Odysee marks the first step in transforming flight scheduling through AI technology.
