Carnival’s Christine Duffy Plans Skydive for Hurricane Relief

Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy is preparing for an exhilarating tandem skydive over Tampa Bay on October 19, aiming to raise funds for hurricane relief through the Gary Sinise Foundation. Initially setting a goal of $50,000, Duffy has since increased the target to $75,000 to support communities affected by Hurricanes Helene and Milton. The fundraising initiative has gained momentum, thanks to the Micky and Madeleine Arison Family Foundation, which has pledged to match all donations.

“Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the devastation of Hurricanes Milton and Helene. I am grateful to all who have donated and continue to support hurricane relief efforts as I prepare to jump from 10,000 feet above Tampa Bay with members of the Special Forces,” said Duffy. The response from donors has been heartwarming, and Duffy expressed her appreciation for Carnival Corporation Chairman Micky Arison and his wife Madeleine’s matching support.

Duffy’s skydive will occur during Carnival’s inaugural Special Forces Legacy Initiatives (SFLI) voyage aboard Carnival Paradise. This unique event gathers special forces alumni, their families, Gold Star families, and friends for a five-day journey to The Bahamas. Duffy will leap from the “Tico Belle,” a historic World War II C-47 aircraft that participated in the Normandy D-Day invasion in 1944, accompanied by members of the USSOCOM Para-Commandos and the U.S. Special Operations Command’s parachute demonstration team.

Proceeds from this skydiving challenge will benefit the Gary Sinise Foundation, established by actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise in 2011 to support active military, veterans, first responders, and their families. The foundation is currently focused on aiding those on the ground in Floridian communities affected by the hurricanes. Gary Sinise and his Lt. Dan Band, known for uplifting military communities with over 570 performances worldwide, will also participate in the embarkation day festivities.
