Marriott Launches Program to Help Event Planners Cut Carbon Emissions
Marriott International, Inc. is introducing “Connect Responsibly,” a new program designed to help event planners measure and reduce their event’s carbon emissions. This initiative is part of Marriott Bonvoy Events and will be available globally by the end of October.
The program provides event planners with access to detailed Meeting Impact Reports, allowing them to review sustainability practices, carbon and water footprints, and other environmental factors after their event. Reports will be available in 11 languages.
Through a partnership with carbon asset developer South Pole, planners can also choose from a variety of carbon offset projects to purchase, helping to mitigate the environmental impact of their events.
“Meetings and events are a key business for Marriott, and our customers are eager to engage in sustainability efforts,” said Tammy Routh, Senior Vice President of Global Sales at Marriott International. “Connect Responsibly builds on our sustainability initiatives by offering customers comprehensive reporting and access to verified carbon offset projects.”
This initiative is part of Marriott’s broader sustainability strategy, which includes commitments through the Science Based Targets initiative and its Serve 360: Doing Good in Every Direction ESG program. “Connect Responsibly” enhances Marriott’s efforts to promote sustainability in the hospitality industry, offering a proactive approach for event planners to minimize their environmental footprint.
