Playa Hotels & Resorts recently hosted its inaugural Culinary Summit, a three-day event held in the Dominican Republic exclusively for Playa associates. The summit brought together nearly 100 participants for expert-led workshops and masterclasses aimed at enhancing all-inclusive dining experiences across the brand’s resorts in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Jamaica.

The Culinary Summit focused on cutting-edge gastronomic trends and techniques. Notable topics included sustainability in culinary practices, such as eco-friendly bar techniques and waste-reducing cooking methods. Participants also explored the use of innovative ingredients like mushrooms, truffles, and chocolate, along with modern culinary tools like Josper ovens.

David Barreiro, General Manager of Hilton La Romana, expressed the summit’s significance, stating, “The Playa Culinary Summit is the starting point for our associates to open their minds, expand their perspective, and improve through various techniques and knowledge to deliver unique guest experiences.”

Additionally, the summit featured masterclasses on blending culinary tradition with modern methods, including sessions on Iberian ham and wine pairings comparing Ribera del Duero vs. Rioja.

The success of the Culinary Summit follows Playa’s summer event in Cancun, where the company celebrated its top travel advisors.
