IndiGo Launches IndiGoStretch Premium Product in India
IndiGo, India’s largest low-cost airline, has unveiled its new premium seating option, IndiGoStretch, with the arrival of its first aircraft equipped with this business-class-inspired product. IndiGoStretch represents a significant move for the carrier toward a hybrid model, blending affordability with enhanced comfort for business travelers on key domestic routes.
Designed with business travelers in mind, IndiGoStretch will debut on popular routes such as Delhi (DEL) to Mumbai (BOM), Chennai (MAA), and Bengaluru (BLR), where high demand for premium services prevails. Positioned at the front of the aircraft, IndiGoStretch seats offer passengers an upgraded travel experience through a 2-2 seat layout, which contrasts with the standard 3-3 configuration in the main cabin. Manufactured by RECARO, these premium seats provide 38 inches of seat pitch, a notable recline, and an adjustable headrest for extra comfort.
IndiGoStretch seats come with thoughtful amenities designed to enhance productivity and comfort. Wider armrests are equipped with electronic device holders, while 60-watt USB-Type C power outlets allow passengers to charge their devices conveniently. This new seating class positions IndiGo as a more versatile airline, catering not only to budget-conscious travelers but also to those seeking a more refined in-flight experience.
Complementing the comfortable seating, IndiGoStretch offers premium in-flight services, which include meal options crafted by Oberoi Flight Services, the catering arm of India’s Oberoi Group known for luxury hospitality. Passengers will also benefit from priority check-in, the option for advance seat selection, and a generous 30kg checked baggage allowance—features traditionally associated with business class.
IndiGo’s first aircraft equipped with IndiGoStretch, an Airbus A321neo registered as VT-ICF, arrived in Delhi on October 30, 2024, after completing a delivery flight from Hamburg-Finkenwerder (XFW). The premium product is scheduled to commence operations on the Delhi-Mumbai route on November 14, 2024, providing passengers with an upgraded travel option on one of India’s busiest domestic routes.
Looking forward, IndiGo has ambitious plans to expand IndiGoStretch across its fleet. Over the next 18 months, the airline expects to introduce 45 A320-family aircraft fitted with this premium product. This addition aligns with IndiGo’s strategy to capture a broader market share by catering to both leisure and business travelers in India’s growing aviation sector.
IndiGoStretch signals a shift in IndiGo’s service offering, bringing an elevated product for passengers who value comfort and convenience without the full cost of traditional business class. With the launch of this product, IndiGo continues to strengthen its foothold in the Indian aviation market, enhancing its appeal to a diverse customer base that includes business travelers, premium economy seekers, and frequent flyers.
