Global Medical Response Orders 28 Airbus Helicopters
Global Medical Response (GMR) has announced a substantial order for 28 Airbus helicopters, encompassing four different aircraft variants, along with options for additional units. This order was revealed on November 6, 2024, and includes commitments for six H125s, five H130s, 14 H135s, and three H145s.
In addition to this recent order, GMR had previously acquired five Airbus helicopters earlier in 2024, solidifying its status as one of the largest operators of Airbus helicopters in North America. The new agreement also includes options to purchase an additional 23 helicopters over the next three years, further expanding GMR’s capabilities in air ambulance services.
“At Global Medical Response, we understand the critical impact air ambulances have in delivering rapid, lifesaving support when it’s needed most,” stated Daniel Sweeza, GMR’s National President of Air Operations. He emphasized that this investment in Airbus helicopters enhances their ability to provide life-saving healthcare, ensuring that they can reach patients in need regardless of their location.
With this latest order, GMR operates nearly 200 Airbus helicopters and will be among the first companies in North America to utilize the IFR-capable H125. The company, which boasts a workforce of nearly 36,000 employees, manages 387 air base locations under various brands, including Air Evac Lifeteam, REACH Air Medical Services, Med-Trans Corporation, AirMed International, and Guardian Flight.
Since 2021, GMR has incorporated more than 30 Airbus helicopters into its fleet, reflecting its ongoing commitment to enhancing medical care accessibility. Bart Reijnen, Head of the North America Region for Airbus Helicopters, expressed pride in supporting GMR and reiterated the significant role these new helicopters will play in delivering critical care to communities across the country.
