Emirates Revives Daily Flights to Edinburgh After 3-Year Hiatus
Emirates has officially resumed its flights from Dubai International Airport (DXB) to Edinburgh Airport (EDI), marking the airline’s return to Scotland for the first time since 2020. The first aircraft, a Boeing 777, was greeted by the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo, highlighting the significance of this event.
As Scotland’s busiest airport, Edinburgh now becomes Emirates’ eighth destination in the UK. The airline’s daily service will enhance connectivity, complementing its existing daily A380 flights to Glasgow Airport (GLA) and providing a total of 14 weekly flights to and from Scotland.
This daily service not only improves passenger travel options but also boosts cargo capacity, allowing Emirates SkyCargo to transport 16 tons of cargo per flight. This capability will support local businesses, strengthen trade links with global markets, and facilitate the transport of high-value, time-sensitive goods such as fresh seafood and fine wines.
Adnan Kazim, Emirates’ Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized the importance of the UK market for the airline. “We’re proud to reinstate our footprint in Scotland—a country that’s loved by visitors worldwide. Scottish customers can look forward to an elevated travel experience, initially with our Boeing 777, ahead of the highly anticipated arrival of our A350,” Kazim stated.
The renewed flight operations are expected to attract more visitors from key inbound markets like Australia and India, further raising awareness of Scotland’s unique experiences and stunning landscapes.
Emirates’ flight schedule includes EK 23, departing Dubai at 14:50 local time and arriving in Edinburgh at 19:05 local time. The return flight, EK 24, leaves Edinburgh at 20:40 local time, landing in Dubai at 08:05 the following day. With these enhancements, Emirates aims to strengthen its commitment to Scotland and provide an exceptional travel experience for passengers.
