Gridiron Air (RZN, Fort Worth Alliance) has officially achieved its Part 121 supplemental air carrier certification as of October 30, 2024, marking a significant milestone in its efforts to disrupt the large aircraft charter market. This new certification allows the company to offer its fleet of two ex-Delta Air Lines B777-200ERs to the charter market.

Paul Kirby, president and CEO of Gridiron Air, expressed excitement about the company’s new offerings. “Our B777-200ER fleet will be a market disruptor,” Kirby said. “With four distinct cabin zones, including 28 lie-flat seats and seating for up to 288 passengers in unmatched comfort, upgraded connectivity, and in-flight entertainment, we are excited for our guests to experience the new standard in large aircraft charter.”

Previously, Gridiron Air held Part 125 certification, which allowed it to operate large aircraft for private purposes only. The company’s two B777-200ER aircraft, once contracted by the Arizona Cardinals, had their operations halted in June 2023. Since then, Gridiron Air has been focused on expanding its business into the commercial large aircraft charter niche.

Gridiron Air is also looking to grow its fleet by adding two additional ex-Delta B777-200ERs, although the company did not specify a timeline for the induction of these new aircraft. The expansion of its fleet is expected to further strengthen the company’s position in the high-end charter market.

With this new certification, Gridiron Air is poised to offer a level of luxury and service that sets a new benchmark in the large aircraft charter industry.
