Qatar Airways Cargo and MASkargo Join Forces Globally
Qatar Airways Cargo has unveiled a new strategic partnership with MASkargo, the cargo division of Malaysia Aviation Group, marking a significant expansion in their global logistics network. Officially commencing on October 1, 2024, this collaboration has already facilitated the successful transportation of approximately 2,400 tons of cargo. Notably, this includes over 600 tons of perishables and 130 tons of pharmaceuticals, underscoring the partnership’s capacity to handle high-value and time-sensitive goods.
Under the newly formed alliance, Qatar Airways Cargo’s Boeing 777 aircraft will operate bi-weekly flights from Doha’s Hamad International Airport (DOH) to Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KUL). This route enhancement is set to increase the weekly cargo capacity by more than 200 tons, significantly boosting the efficiency and reach of both airlines. The addition of these flights ensures a reliable and expanded cargo service between the Middle East and Southeast Asia, catering to the growing demand for international shipping solutions.
The partnership was solidified in July 2024 when Qatar Airways Cargo and MASkargo signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This agreement aims to deliver an enhanced product offering to cargo customers while achieving operational synergies between the two carriers. By leveraging each other’s strengths, the alliance seeks to provide more comprehensive and flexible logistics solutions, enhancing the overall customer experience.
Furthermore, Qatar Airways Cargo and MASkargo are enhancing their connectivity to key Australian destinations. The partnership will solidify routes to Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (SYD) and Melbourne Airport (MEL) using MASkargo’s Airbus A330 freighters. These aircraft will carry over 75 tons of cargo weekly, ensuring swift connections with a rapid eight-hour turnaround time at Kuala Lumpur International Airport. This strategic move not only strengthens the cargo link between Australia and Asia but also ensures timely delivery of goods across continents.
