Etihad Airways Unveils Cricket-Inspired A320neo for CSK
Etihad Airways has revealed a new Airbus A320neo featuring a cricket-inspired livery to celebrate its official partnership with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The aircraft, adorned with the team’s bold yellow and blue colors, is the first Airbus A320neo to be operated by a UAE carrier, marking an important milestone for the airline. Starting December 2024, the aircraft will operate on short-haul routes, including flights to Chennai, India, the cricketing home of CSK.
Arik De, Etihad Airways’ Chief Revenue and Commercial Officer, expressed the airline’s excitement over the partnership, saying: “We are delighted to once again demonstrate our commitment to the Indian market and celebrate our partnership with CSK with this stunning new livery. We are incredibly proud of our association with the team and the joy cricket brings to millions of fans worldwide.”
This move follows Etihad’s announcement in February 2024, when it became the official sponsor of the Indian Premier League (IPL) team for the 2024 season. The partnership adds to Etihad’s growing portfolio of sporting collaborations, which also includes prominent partnerships with Manchester City and Formula 1 at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
De continued, “With our rapidly expanding global network, we can showcase the CSK special livery to millions of people around the world, further connecting global fans to the exciting world of cricket.”
Etihad currently operates 181 flights per week to 11 cities in India, offering seamless connectivity to Middle Eastern, African, European, and North American destinations. In 2024, the airline expanded its Indian network with new routes to Jaipur, Kozhikode, and Thiruvananthapuram in Kerala, alongside increased frequencies to key cities like Mumbai and Delhi.
The partnership with CSK not only strengthens Etihad’s presence in India but also aligns with the airline’s commitment to sports and community engagement globally. This unique collaboration celebrates the global love for cricket while enhancing travel options for fans across the globe.
