Delhi’s Noida International Airport Set to Open in April 2025

The new Noida International Airport (DXN) in the Delhi-National Capital Region is set to begin commercial operations by April 2025, with an initial capacity to process 12 million passengers annually in its first phase. Developed by Zurich Airport International, DXN aims to blend India’s renowned hospitality with Swiss operational efficiency. With the airport currently in its final stages of construction, officials are on track to file for its aerodrome license by the end of 2024, ensuring the project remains on schedule for its operational launch.

Designed with the needs of its airline partners, particularly India’s major domestic carriers, DXN has prioritized engagement with potential operators during the development phase. This collaborative approach aims to provide a high-quality, seamless experience that caters to the fast-growing aviation market in India.

“Building a greenfield airport gives us the opportunity to make sustainability a priority from day one,” said CEO Christoph Schnellmann. “We made a commitment early in the process to design an airport that can operate on a net-zero emissions basis a few years after the start of commercial operations.”

Strategically located in the expanding Delhi-National Capital Region, DXN is poised to contribute significantly to regional development by enhancing connectivity and supporting residential and industrial growth. Schnellmann added, “The airport will play a critical role in anchoring further development across the region, benefiting both local communities and businesses.”

The airport’s infrastructure is being designed to accommodate future growth. Upon completion of its fourth phase, DXN will have the capacity to handle up to 70 million passengers annually. This scalability is crucial as the airport expects substantial increases in domestic, transfer, and international traffic.

At Routes World 2024, Schnellmann highlighted the importance of building strong partnerships with both domestic and international airlines. He noted that the event provided an excellent opportunity to connect with carriers and explore ways to support their expansion in India.

To enhance awareness and connectivity for Noida International Airport, the organization is actively sharing updates and key messages through its Routes 360 membership. This ongoing outreach aims to strengthen the airport’s presence in the global aviation network and solidify its role as a key player in India’s aviation sector.
