AnimaWings Welcomes Romania’s First Airbus A220-300
AnimaWings has proudly taken delivery of Romania’s inaugural Airbus A220-300, marking a significant advancement for the airline. The state-of-the-art aircraft arrived from Airbus’s Mirabel facility in Canada, symbolizing a new era in AnimaWings’ fleet modernization efforts.
This Airbus A220-300 is the first of four new aircraft joining AnimaWings, underlining a strategic agreement with US-based aircraft lessor Azorra. The addition of these aircraft is part of Azorra’s firm order book with Airbus, making this delivery the company’s third of the A220-300 model to an airline customer.
Marius Pandel, Co-Owner of AnimaWings, emphasized the importance of this milestone: “Welcoming our first Airbus A220-300 marks a significant milestone in our growth strategy, allowing us to modernize our operations and deliver exceptional travel experiences for our customers. With its unparalleled efficiency and superior passenger comfort, this advanced aircraft enables us to commit to delivering connectivity to sought-after destinations such as Dubai, Cluj, Iasi, Oradea, Paris, Larnaca, and Stockholm.”
Pandel further highlighted the crucial role of Azorra in this achievement, stating, “Our partnership with Azorra has been instrumental in helping us take this significant step, and we value their expertise and collaboration in shaping the future of our fleet.”
Benoît Schultz, CEO of Airbus Canada, remarked on the delivery, calling it “another milestone for the A220 as the Romania-based airline will become the tenth A220 operator in Europe.” He added, “Thanks to the A220’s innovative cabin features, AnimaWings’ passengers will enjoy a superior flying experience. Moreover, as a latest-generation aircraft, the A220 brings 25% lower CO2 emissions per seat compared to previous generation aircraft. We thank both Azorra and AnimaWings for their trust.”
The Airbus A220-300 has quickly become a favorite among leading airlines worldwide. Notable operators include Lufthansa, EgyptAir, Delta Air Lines, and airBaltic, the latter of which operates an entire fleet composed of A220-300s. Originally manufactured by Canada-based Bombardier, the A220-300 became part of Airbus’s portfolio in 2018 after Airbus acquired a majority stake in the program.
John Evans, CEO and Founder of Azorra, expressed his enthusiasm about the delivery: “We are proud to deliver the first new Airbus A220-300 to our friends at AnimaWings, made possible through our strong relationship with Airbus. This marks a significant milestone as the first of its type in Romania. With its unmatched performance and efficiency, this aircraft is perfectly suited to support AnimaWings’ growth objectives and will play a vital role in the future of aviation in Romania.”
The introduction of the Airbus A220-300 into AnimaWings’ fleet not only enhances the airline’s operational capabilities but also reinforces its commitment to providing high-quality, efficient, and environmentally friendly air travel options. The A220-300’s advanced technology and passenger-centric design are set to elevate the travel experience for AnimaWings’ customers, making it a pivotal addition to Romania’s aviation landscape.
AnimaWings’ expansion with the Airbus A220-300 underscores the airline’s dedication to growth and excellence. By partnering with Azorra and leveraging Airbus’s innovative aircraft, AnimaWings is well-positioned to serve a broader range of destinations with enhanced reliability and comfort.
