Kazakhstan’s flagship airline, Air Astana, is set to broaden its international reach with the launch of a new flight service connecting Almaty International Airport (ALA) with Frankfurt Airport (FRA) starting June 1, 2025. This addition aims to enhance connectivity between Kazakhstan and Europe, catering to both business and leisure travelers.

The new route will be serviced three times a week using the airline’s Airbus A321LR, a state-of-the-art aircraft known for its efficiency on long-range routes. This service is designed to complement Air Astana’s existing flights to Frankfurt, which currently operate from Astana International Airport (NZQ) and Manshuk Mametova International Airport (URA) in Uralsk.

Tickets for the new flights are now available, with a round-trip economy class fare starting at US$550. The schedule for the new service is as follows: flights will depart Almaty at 01:30 local time and arrive in Frankfurt at 06:55 local time. The return flights will leave Frankfurt at 08:30 local time and land back in Almaty at 18:55 local time.

This expansion is part of Air Astana’s broader strategy to increase its footprint in Europe and provide more travel options for its passengers. The airline first entered the German market in 2003 and has since sought to expand and consolidate its routes to meet growing passenger demand.

In addition to enhancing its European routes, Air Astana continues to innovate in its fleet management. In February 2024, the carrier welcomed the first of seven Airbus A321LR aircraft from leasing firm AerCap. This new addition is part of a modernization effort aimed at replacing its older Boeing 757 fleet. The A321LR has already been utilized to launch what is currently the longest non-stop route for the model, from Almaty to London Heathrow, which spans approximately 3,500 miles (5,632 kilometers).

The introduction of the Almaty to Frankfurt route underscores Air Astana’s commitment to facilitating international travel and commerce, reinforcing Kazakhstan’s position as a growing hub in global aviation.
