Sandals Resorts Hosts 20th Annual Travel Advisor Golf Tournament
The 20th Annual USA Travel Advisor Golf Tournament hosted by Sandals Resorts was a resounding success, despite rain affecting some of the event’s plans. Held from October 26-30, 2024, at Sandals Ochi Beach in Jamaica, the tournament brought together 110 travel advisors and guests for a unique experience that combined business, leisure, and golf. The event was also held at the nearby Sandals Upton Estate Golf & Country Club, offering attendees a chance to enjoy a world-class golfing experience while networking and learning about Sandals’ offerings.
The tournament kicked off with excitement but was temporarily interrupted by rain during the first round of play. As thunder and lightning were spotted, safety became the top priority, and the first round was canceled. In place of golf, a small-business marketing session was scheduled to keep the participants engaged and provide value in the absence of play. This session was an opportunity for travel advisors to expand their knowledge, focusing on strategies to help grow their businesses.
Despite the initial setback, the second round of golf went ahead as planned. While the rain continued intermittently throughout the round, the spirit of the participants remained high. Attendees were treated to a cocktail party at Sandals Dunn’s River, a luxurious resort that showcases the best of Sandals’ Jamaican offerings. Breakfast at Sandals Royal Plantation gave guests a chance to experience another facet of Sandals’ hospitality, while drinks and hors d’oeuvres at Beaches Ocho Rios rounded out the social events. These experiences helped build relationships among travel advisors and provided a deeper understanding of what Sandals Resorts has to offer.
The tournament was an invitation-only scramble event, with the goal of selecting travel advisors who would be most likely to grow their business through golf. Jake Coldiron, national manager of golf sales, highlighted the importance of the event for Sandals Resorts and its partners. Coldiron expressed that the ultimate goal was to see bookings and groups generated from the advisors who attended the event, fostering long-term relationships and mutual success.
