Tanzania Receives New Gulfstream G700 for VIP Transport

Tanzania has taken delivery of a brand-new Gulfstream G700, marking a significant upgrade in its VIP transport fleet. Registered as 5H-ONE (msn 87015), the ultra-long-range jet arrived in Dar es Salaam between December 21 and 22, 2024, following a ferry flight from Savannah International via Casablanca Mohamed V. The aircraft remains inactive since its arrival, according to ch-aviation research.
The G700 acquisition is part of Tanzania’s broader VIP transport renewal plan announced earlier this year. It joins an existing fleet that includes a 20.3-year-old Gulfstream G550, previously registered as 5H-ONE but now operating as 5H-ONF (msn 5030). The G550, primarily used for presidential travel, was recently ferried back to Savannah for maintenance. Other government aircraft include a Fokker 50 for general official use and a stored Fokker F28-3000.
Ownership and operational responsibility for the new G700 remain unclear. The Ministry of Communications and Transport owns and operates the G550, while the Fokker 50 is operated by TGF – Tanzania Government Flight. The G700’s introduction suggests further modernization of the fleet may be underway.
Tanzania’s 2024/2025 national budget includes an interim payment for a Boeing 737-700(BBJ), and TGF recently acquired a used De Havilland DHC-8-Q400. These moves reflect the government’s commitment to upgrading its aviation capabilities to support official duties efficiently and reliably.
