Nassau Cruise Port Sets Record with 5.6 Million Passengers in 2024
Nassau Cruise Port has achieved another milestone, welcoming a record 5.6 million passengers in 2024. This marks the second consecutive year of record-breaking growth for the port, which remains the largest and busiest cruise hub in the Caribbean region.
In comparison, Nassau saw 3.2 million cruise passengers in 2022 and 4.4 million in 2023, showcasing a steady increase in the port’s popularity. Cruise passengers continue to play a vital role in the Bahamas’ tourism sector, making up 61 percent of the country’s 9.1 million total visitors in 2024. They are a significant contributor to the $2.6 billion in annual tourism revenue that The Bahamas generates.
“We are incredibly proud to reach this significant milestone for the second year in a row,” said Mike Maura Jr., CEO of Nassau Cruise Port. “This achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and collaboration of our talented team, our valued partners, and the Bahamian people.”
Maura expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Government of The Bahamas, cruise line partners, local businesses, and the broader community. He emphasized the importance of these collaborations in shaping the future of Bahamian tourism.
Looking ahead, the port is planning new developments to enhance guest experiences. These include upgraded facilities to better transport visitors to key attractions on New Providence Island, family-friendly recreational activities, diverse dining options, and more sustainable practices.
“Our success story is far from over,” Maura added. “The future promises even more growth for The Bahamas and its residents, and more incredible authentically Bahamian experiences for our visitors from around the world.
