Holland America Line Unveils $70 Million Denali Lodge Expansion

Holland America Line has announced a $70 million multi-year expansion and renovation project for its Denali Lodge property in Alaska. The enhancements aim to accommodate more guests on land tours after their Alaska cruise, further elevating the cruise line’s offerings in the region. The project will take place over several years, with construction beginning this year.

The first phase of the renovation will focus on improving the riverside interpretive trail, adding scenic viewpoints, and enhancing on-site wayfinding. Additionally, there will be upgrades to the restaurant menus and public spaces in the Cottonwood and Canyon Lodge guest room buildings. These improvements are designed to enrich the guest experience, ensuring a seamless blend of nature and luxury.

In 2026, the renovations will continue with a complete remodel of 48 guest rooms and Karstens Public House. This will include expanded indoor and outdoor seating options and the addition of a new coffee shop. The project’s final phase, set for 2027, will feature a new guest room building with 120 suites and rooms. The main lodge will also undergo a renovation, incorporating a new restaurant concept, a lobby bar, and an enhanced coffee experience.

Holland America Line’s investment in the Denali Lodge is part of a broader effort to improve its Alaska properties. Last year, the company completed renovations at the McKinley Chalet Resort, a 68-acre hotel located near the entrance to Denali National Park.

Beth Bodensteiner, president of Holland America Line, expressed excitement about the project, saying, “It’s truly special that we can bring guests to a lodge at the doorstep of Denali National Park. This investment is a win for Alaska, our guests, and Holland America Line. Enhancing and expanding the Holland America Denali Lodge will help meet the growing interest in combined land and sea Cruisetours for our 49th state and further support the Alaska tourism industry.”

With this major investment, Holland America Line aims to strengthen its position in the Alaskan tourism market while providing guests with an exceptional experience at one of the most iconic destinations in the U.S.
