Hello Jets to Add Two Dry-Leased A320s
Romanian wet-lease carrier Hello Jets (H3, Bucharest Henri Coanda) is set to expand its fleet with two Airbus A320-200 aircraft on financial leases, according to local aviation news outlet BoardingPass.ro. The aircraft, PK-AXR (msn 2881) and M-ABTG (msn 2885), are scheduled for delivery by the end of January 2025.
Previously operated by Indonesia AirAsia (QZ, Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta) and owned by Altavair, both aircraft are 18.4 years old. PK-AXR is undergoing maintenance at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta, while M-ABTG is receiving pre-delivery work at Kemble.
Hello Jets currently operates a fleet of one B737-700 and two B737-800s, with the B737-700 and one -800 leased to Israir and the other -800 flying for LOT Polish Airlines.
“The addition of these A320s is a strategic step for Hello Jets as we adapt to market demands in the dry lease sector,” said CEO Tudor Constantinescu. He noted that the airline is fully equipped to expand its Air Operator Certificate (AOC) to include this aircraft type.
Dedicated to the wet lease market, the A320s align with Hello Jets’ strategy to remain economically competitive. “These aircraft will strengthen our position as Romania’s second-largest privately-owned airline by fleet size, growing to five narrow-body aircraft,” Constantinescu added.
This move reinforces Hello Jets’ commitment to adapting its fleet for optimal performance in the wet lease market.
