Emirates Airlines has announced the resumption of its flight operations to Beirut–Rafic Hariri International Airport (BEY) in Lebanon and Baghdad International Airport (BGW) in Iraq from Dubai International Airport (DXB). The restart of these routes is scheduled to take place on February 1, 2025, following a four-month suspension due to regional conflicts.

In September 2024, Emirates temporarily halted its services to Beirut and Baghdad amidst escalating tensions and conflict following Israel’s invasion of Southern Lebanon. This suspension was part of a broader halt in operations by other major carriers, including Qatar Airways, Etihad Airways, Lufthansa, and Egyptair, all of which ceased their flights to Beirut during this turbulent period.

The recent announcement comes on the heels of a ceasefire agreement between Lebanon and Israel, which is currently set to last until February 18, 2025. This truce has paved the way for Emirates to restore its vital air links, reaffirming the airline’s commitment to maintaining strong connections in the Middle East despite geopolitical challenges.

Starting February 1, 2025, Emirates will operate daily flights to both Beirut and Baghdad using its reliable Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, featuring a three-class configuration to ensure passenger comfort. The daily service to Beirut will include flight EK953 departing Dubai at 11:30 AM and arriving in Beirut at 2:00 PM, followed by flight EK954 departing Beirut at 3:30 PM and landing in Dubai at 9:20 PM.

In addition to the daily flights, Emirates plans to enhance its Beirut service by introducing a second daily flight on April 1, 2025. This additional service, flight EK957, will depart Dubai at 7:30 AM and arrive in Beirut at 10:30 AM, while flight EK958 will depart Beirut at 12:05 PM and reach Dubai by 4:55 PM. This expansion reflects Emirates’ confidence in the renewed stability of the region and the anticipated demand for travel between Dubai, Beirut, and Baghdad.

Emirates will also maintain its flight schedule to Baghdad, operating on Sundays, Mondays, and Wednesdays with flight EK941 departing Dubai at 8:05 AM and arriving in Baghdad at 9:50 AM, followed by flight EK942 departing Baghdad at 11:25 AM and arriving in Dubai at 2:35 PM. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, Emirates will run flight EK943 departing Dubai at 1:00 PM and arriving in Baghdad at 2:25 PM, with flight EK944 departing Baghdad at 3:55 PM and arriving in Dubai at 7:10 PM.

The Boeing 777-300ER aircraft used for these routes are equipped with Emirates’ renowned three-class service, offering passengers a luxurious travel experience. The airline’s commitment to high standards in service and safety ensures that travelers can enjoy a seamless journey between Dubai and these key Middle Eastern destinations.

Emirates’ decision to resume flights is a positive indicator of improving regional stability and a testament to the airline’s resilience and dedication to connecting major cities despite ongoing geopolitical challenges. By restoring its routes to Beirut and Baghdad, Emirates is not only supporting economic and social ties but also providing essential connectivity for both business and leisure travelers in the region.

As the ceasefire agreement remains in effect until mid-February 2025, Emirates is poised to continue its operations, adapting to any developments to ensure the safety and satisfaction of its passengers. The airline remains vigilant and prepared to adjust its services in response to any changes in the security landscape, prioritizing the well-being of its customers and crew.

Emirates Airlines resumption of flights to Beirut and Baghdad marks a significant step towards normalizing air travel in a region recovering from conflict. With the introduction of additional services and the utilization of advanced Boeing 777-300ER aircraft, Emirates is set to enhance its presence in the Middle East, fostering stronger connections and supporting the region’s ongoing recovery and growth.
