Silversea’s newest luxury ship, Silver Ray, set sail on its inaugural Grand Voyage—a 71-day circumnavigation of South America—departing on January 20, 2025. The highly anticipated journey commenced in Fort Lauderdale with a spectacular Bon Voyage dinner held at the Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, featuring a curated gastronomic showcase of authentic South American specialties.
“This Grand Voyage South America 2025 marks a new chapter for our guests aboard Silver Ray,” said Bert Hernandez, president of Silversea. “As the leading experiential luxury travel brand, we pride ourselves on creating unique moments. Our 71-day voyage is designed to capture the true essence of the destinations our guests visit.” Among the exclusive highlights are four once-in-a-lifetime events, each meticulously curated to showcase local culture and experiences—from vineyard tastings in Valparaiso to front row seats at the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, and a refined evening celebrating Bajan culture in Bridgetown.
The Grand Voyage spans 38 destinations across 17 countries with 11 overnights, promising an immersive experience that bridges adventure with luxury. One of the standout events, “Vineyards & Vines” in Valparaiso, Chile, is scheduled for February 8, 2025. Guests will visit the illustrious Kingston Family Winery, an establishment steeped in history in Chile’s renowned Casablanca Valley. Here, travelers can savor exquisite organic wines, sample local canapés, listen to live music, and indulge in a traditional Chilean feast.
Next on the itinerary is “The Greatest Show on Earth” in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, set for March 2nd and 3rd, 2025. During this unforgettable Carnival experience, guests will enjoy preferential seating in the exclusive Frisas section at the Sambadrome’s Parade runway. This premium access allows travelers to witness the energy, rhythm, and spectacle of Rio’s world-famous Carnival up close as elite Samba schools and grand floats light up the streets.
Following the carnival excitement, “A Bajan Affair” in Bridgetown, Barbados, on March 23, 2025, will transport guests to the historic St. Nicholas Abbey. This meticulously restored plantation, dating back to 1658, offers a magnificent setting for a celebration of Bajan cuisine and culture. Guests will enjoy local music, savor the island’s quintessential rum, and experience the warm hospitality for which Barbados is renowned.
After completing the South American circumnavigation, Silver Ray is set to join Silversea’s other luxury vessels—Silver Moon and Silver Shadow—in the Caribbean. From March to May 2025, a series of nine immersive voyages will explore the Caribbean’s rich cultures, pristine natural beauty, and welcoming communities. In addition, Silversea has planned 13 voyages in November and December 2025 and another 19 sailings in January and February 2026, covering a variety of enchanting Caribbean destinations such as Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Soufriere in St. Lucia, Little Bay in Montserrat, and St. John.
Silver Ray’s innovative design caters to diverse ecosystems—from the Chilean Fjords to the mighty Amazon River—offering far-reaching panoramic views at every turn. Among the most spacious cruise ships ever built, Silver Ray features an exceptional crew-to-guest ratio of 1:1.3 and provides all-suites butler service, the largest selection of bars, restaurants, and lounges in luxury cruising, along with a Roman-inspired spa, comprehensive wellness programs, and the immersive Sea and Land Taste (S.A.L.T.) culinary program. S.A.L.T. shore excursions include sustainable culinary adventures in Manta, Ecuador; market tours and meze tasting in Arica, Chile; gourmet journeys in Ushuaia, Argentina; Argentinian asado masterclasses in Buenos Aires; and unique ingredient explorations in Santarem, Brazil.
