Azul Linhas Aéreas Brasileiras is set to launch cargo operations with its A321-200(P2F) freighter on February 15, 2025. The aircraft will serve key domestic routes between São Paulo Viracopos, Recife, and Manaus International, as confirmed by Azul Cargo Express.

Azul currently operates two A321-200(P2F)s, the first of which was delivered in October 2024. According to ch-aviation data, its cargo fleet also includes a Boeing 737-400(F) and four Embraer E195s. Once operational, Azul’s A321-200(P2F)s will be the first of their kind in South America, joining a global fleet of 44 aircraft. Express Freighters Australia remains the largest operator, with six units.

In addition to expanding its cargo operations, Azul plans to grow its overall fleet size in 2024, with eight more aircraft set for delivery. The airline anticipates a 15% increase in seat capacity during the last quarter of the year, reflecting strong growth in both passenger and cargo markets.

Azul’s investment in the A321-200(P2F) aligns with the rising demand for e-commerce and express cargo in Brazil. The converted freighter, known for its efficiency and payload capacity, is expected to enhance Azul’s logistics network and strengthen its market presence.

With this move, Azul aims to compete with regional cargo carriers while optimizing its fleet for greater operational efficiency. The launch of A321-200(P2F) services marks a milestone for South America’s air cargo sector, reinforcing Azul’s position as a key player in the region.
