RAM Launches New STN-Casablanca Route
Royal Air Maroc (RAM) is set to expand its network in the UK with the launch of a new direct service from London-Stansted Airport (STN) to Casablanca (CMN) for the summer of 2025. This exciting new route marks the addition of London-Stansted as the third Greater London airport served by the Moroccan flag carrier, joining London-Heathrow (LHR) and London-Gatwick (LGW).
Starting on June 24, 2025, and operating until September 14, 2025, RAM will fly the STN-Casablanca route three times a week—on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays—using one of its fleet of Boeing 737-800s. The flight covers a stage length of 1,337 miles (2,139 km) and has an approximate flight time of 3 hours and 20 minutes. According to the scheduled timetable, flights will depart Casablanca at 03:00, arriving at Stansted at 06:20. The return flight will leave London-Stansted at 07:25 and land in Casablanca at 10:45.
This new service comes on the back of strong market demand, with over 100,000 passengers traveling between London and Casablanca in the twelve months to July 2024. Designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers, the direct route offers a convenient option to explore Morocco’s largest city. Casablanca’s rich heritage—from the awe-inspiring Hassan II Mosque to the romantic Corniche waterfront and labyrinthine medina—continues to charm visitors and attract travelers seeking a blend of tradition and modernity.
In an airline statement, RAM highlighted that the new service is not only about increasing frequency but also about enhancing connectivity. “The new service is designed to cater to both business and leisure travelers, offering them a convenient way to explore Morocco’s largest city while also providing connections onto Royal Air Maroc’s extensive network across Africa,” the statement said. The enhanced network will allow passengers to seamlessly connect from London-Stansted to destinations across Africa, thereby strengthening RAM’s competitive position in the region.
London Stansted’s Commercial Director, Ciaran Brannigan, expressed his enthusiasm for the new route, drawing inspiration from the classic film “Casablanca.” “Of all the airports in all the towns in all the world, Royal Air Maroc chose London Stansted for its new direct service to Casablanca, a decision we are truly delighted about,” he commented. This service will provide passengers with more choices when traveling to North Africa, whether for business, leisure, or connecting onto RAM’s broader network.
RAM’s UK General Manager, Zoubida Smahi, echoed these sentiments, stating, “Casablanca is an iconic destination, and we are confident this new route will be the beginning of a beautiful friendship between Royal Air Maroc and London Stansted.” The new service reinforces RAM’s commitment to the UK market by ensuring that passengers benefit from convenient, direct travel options.
In addition, with this launch, RAM will now serve all three London airports from its Casablanca hub with a total of 19 weekly flights. While Heathrow and Gatwick flights are timed to connect with its Western and Central African routes, the Stansted service is expected to cater primarily to point-to-point traffic. This move further solidifies London-Stansted’s position as one of the UK’s busiest gateways, with its network now covering almost 200 destinations across Europe, North Africa, and the Middle East.
With its new direct service to Casablanca, Royal Air Maroc is poised to offer enhanced connectivity and improved travel options for passengers between the UK and Morocco, further boosting its international growth strategy.
