Trivago, a leading hotel search and price comparison platform, has achieved its first revenue growth since early 2023, marking a significant milestone in the final quarter of 2024. The company announced a 3% year-over-year increase in total revenue, reaching €94.8 million, driven primarily by an effective brand marketing strategy across global markets.

Johannes Thomas, CEO of Trivago, expressed optimism about the company’s trajectory, stating, “In the fourth quarter of 2024, we reached a turning point towards sustainable growth.” This sentiment was supported by the company’s financial results, with referral revenue climbing 5% to €93.5 million, significantly contributing to the overall revenue growth.

Additionally, Trivago reported a notable improvement in net income, which doubled to €5.1 million, while adjusted EBITDA soared by 52% to €11.1 million. The company attributed these gains to a more efficient marketing approach, which yielded a higher return on ad spend. The Q4 advertising expenditure was slightly up at €57.4 million compared to €57.2 million in the same quarter the previous year.

Despite the quarterly success, Trivago faced challenges over the entire year, with total revenue for 2024 falling to €460.8 million from €485 million in 2023, and adjusted EBITDA dropping to €10.2 million from €54.1 million. The company increased its advertising spend by 7% annually to €345.4 million.

Looking ahead, Trivago is optimistic about 2025, buoyed by strong early revenue growth and strategic investments in branding. Robin Harries, chief financial officer, highlighted the company’s robust financial position, with a strong cash balance and no long-term debt, positioning Trivago well for future growth. The company continues to innovate, testing new features and enhancing user experience to sustain its positive momentum into the new year.+
