Margaritaville and Karisma Hotels & Resorts, in partnership with Island Shipping, S. de R.L., have officially celebrated the groundbreaking of the new Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roatán in Honduras. This all-inclusive resort is set to open in fall 2027 and promises to become a landmark destination in the Caribbean, enhancing both tourism and local economic growth on the island of Roatán.

The grand event saw dignitaries, local officials, and key stakeholders come together to mark the beginning of construction on the highly anticipated resort. With plans to create 400 permanent jobs and an additional 400 indirect positions in construction, hospitality, and related sectors, the project is expected to deliver a significant boost to the local Roatán economy. The development aims not only to generate employment but also to foster long-term prosperity by improving infrastructure and nurturing sustainable practices through native vegetation planting.

Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roatán will be the third property in Margaritaville’s acclaimed all-inclusive collection managed by Karisma. This family-friendly resort will feature 170 guest rooms that include luxurious oceanfront suites and exclusive swim-up honeymoon accommodations. The resort’s design focuses on providing a blend of relaxation, entertainment, and immersive cultural experiences for travelers from around the globe.

Guests can indulge in a wide range of amenities carefully curated to create a complete vacation experience. The property will boast the St. Somewhere Spa, offering rejuvenating treatments, and the “Fins Up!” Fitness Center, where visitors can maintain their workout routines amid stunning surroundings. For families, the Parakeets Kid’s Club will ensure that children enjoy age-appropriate activities, while multiple pools, pickleball courts, and flexible meeting spaces cater to both leisure and business needs.

One of the standout features of the new resort is The Margaritaville Beach Club. Designed to accommodate up to 800 guests, this venue will serve as the hub for large-scale events and music festivals on Roatán. A covered stage for concerts promises to bring world-class entertainment to the island, further enhancing its global appeal as a tourist destination.

Dining is set to be an exceptional part of the guest experience at Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roatán. The resort will offer a diverse selection of culinary venues, including Frank & Lola’s Italian Trattoria, JWB Steakhouse, The Boathouse Market Dining, and Cheeseburger in Paradise. In a unique twist, the resort will also house the region’s first LandShark Brewery, allowing visitors to enjoy an exclusive craft beer experience that complements the vibrant culinary scene.

Margaritaville CEO John Cohlan and Karisma Hotels & Resorts CEO Esteban Velasquez both spoke at the groundbreaking event about the project’s transformative impact. Velasquez emphasized, “Beyond creating a world-class resort, this project will offer immersive experiences, boost Roatán’s global appeal, and enhance the island’s infrastructure. With efforts like native vegetation planting, we’re fostering long-term prosperity for the community and the environment.”

As construction gets underway, the Margaritaville Island Reserve Resort Roatán is poised to set new standards in luxury, sustainability, and immersive travel experiences. This exciting new development is expected to become a major draw for global travelers seeking an all-inclusive escape in one of the Caribbean’s most beautiful settings.
