Air Astana Group Fleet Reaches 60 Aircraft

Air Astana Group has reached a significant milestone as its fleet now totals 60 aircraft following the delivery of a new Airbus A320neo in Almaty on March 6, 2025. This latest delivery reinforces the Group’s commitment to modernizing its fleet and expanding its route network to offer more convenient and affordable travel options throughout Kazakhstan and beyond.
With the arrival of the Airbus A320neo, the full-service carrier Air Astana now operates 35 aircraft, while its low-cost subsidiary FlyArystan manages a fleet of 25 aircraft. Both carriers have been expanding rapidly over the past year, incorporating state-of-the-art Airbus A321LR and A320neo aircraft into their operations. These new-generation jets not only boost fuel efficiency and reduce operating costs but also support the airlines’ growth strategies in an increasingly competitive aviation market.
Air Astana has been steadily expanding its network, recently launching a new direct route from Almaty International Airport (ALA) to Da Nang International Airport (DAD) in Vietnam. This addition is a clear indication of the carrier’s focus on enhancing connectivity between Kazakhstan and key destinations in Southeast Asia. The route is expected to attract a growing number of passengers, further fueling the airline’s expansion plans in the region.
At the same time, FlyArystan is continuing its aggressive strategy to broaden low-cost services across Kazakhstan and Central Asia. The airline has also begun offering longer-range flights to destinations such as Georgia, China, and the Middle East, appealing to budget-conscious travelers while maintaining competitive pricing. The combined efforts of both Air Astana and FlyArystan demonstrate the Group’s dual approach to serving different market segments with tailored travel solutions.
Peter Foster, CEO of Air Astana Group, expressed enthusiasm about the milestone: “Expanding our fleet to 60 aircraft is a significant milestone for Air Astana Group and an important step towards accomplishing our strategic plans.” Foster emphasized that the Group will continue to invest in modern aircraft and expand its route network to create even more opportunities for both leisure and business travelers. “We will continue to invest in modern aircraft and expand our route network, offering passengers even more opportunities for convenient and affordable travel both within the region and beyond,” he added.
Looking ahead, the Group plans further fleet expansion, with the total number of aircraft expected to reach 80 by 2028. This ambitious target aligns with Air Astana Group’s long-term vision of strengthening its market position and ensuring sustainable growth. By focusing on fleet modernization and network expansion, the Group is poised to enhance its operational efficiency and offer a superior travel experience, reinforcing its status as the leading carrier in Kazakhstan.
The ongoing fleet renewal strategy highlights Air Astana Group’s commitment to environmental sustainability and cost efficiency. New-generation aircraft like the Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321LR provide significant fuel savings and lower emissions compared to older models. This focus on sustainability is increasingly important in today’s aviation landscape and underscores the Group’s dedication to responsible growth.
With a clear vision for the future, Air Astana Group continues to build on its success by offering enhanced connectivity, modernized fleet operations, and expanded route options for passengers across the region and beyond.
