Wyndham Partners with Katanox to Cut Distribution, Payment Costs

Wyndham Hotels & Resorts is implementing Katanox’s technology to streamline distribution, payments, and commission settlements across its 9,000+ franchise properties. The partnership aims to lower costs, enhance efficiency, and provide greater control for franchisees.

Vikram Pradhan, Wyndham’s VP of Revenue Management, cited rising distribution and commission fees as a key concern. He noted that multiple intermediaries—tech providers, payment platforms, and commission processors—add unnecessary expenses, reducing franchisee earnings. Katanox’s model consolidates these processes, charging just 1% for payments compared to the industry-standard 3-5%.

The system, integrated with Sabre’s central reservation platform, has already processed its first transactions. Wyndham plans to onboard corporate travel partners throughout 2025, with full implementation by 2026. Early results indicate higher-value transactions and longer lead times compared to traditional channels like GDS and OTAs.

Katanox co-founder Paul Beukers described the platform as the “financial backbone” of hotel distribution, simplifying payments and commission settlements. With virtual credit card fees and outdated payment systems costing hotels millions, Wyndham sees this partnership as a step toward industry-wide transformation.

Looking ahead, Wyndham aims to eliminate front desk payments entirely, shifting all transactions behind the scenes. Pradhan believes the hospitality sector is at an inflection point, with rapid changes expected in hotel distribution. Legacy providers may need to adapt or risk obsolescence as more brands explore direct distribution models.

With Katanox, Wyndham is positioning itself at the forefront of this industry shift, prioritizing cost efficiency and operational ease for its franchisees.
