Transwing Secures Austrian AOC and Expands Fleet with Citation M2

Transwing, a Switzerland-based private jet operator, has successfully secured its Austrian air operator’s certificate (AOC) #A-178 on February 26, 2025. This certification enables Transwing to bring its Citation M2 HB-VTW (msn 525-1044) aircraft in-house, which was previously dry-leased to AFS Alpine Flightservice. The operator also has plans to expand its fleet by adding two new Citation M2 Gen2 aircraft in 2025.
Transwing GmbH, a subsidiary of Transwing Ltd, was established in Austria in 2024. Although the operator has chosen to hold an Austrian AOC, it will continue to fly Swiss-registered aircraft under the Article 83bis agreement between Switzerland and Austria. The aircraft HB-VTW will remain on the Swiss register despite its new operational role under the Austrian AOC.
The 5.3-year-old Citation M2, configured for six passengers, was last operated under AFS Alpine Flightservice’s ‘FSE’ code on February 23, 2025, flying between Bern and Vienna. After the aircraft transitioned to Transwing’s AOC, it flew to Linz Blue Danube and then to Zurich on February 26. The aircraft began operating under Transwing’s own ‘TSW’ code on March 18, 2025, with a test flight and a roundtrip to Vienna.
Transwing CEO Mark Meyer announced to SkyNews.ch that the operator is set to receive two Citation M2 Gen2 aircraft directly from Textron Aviation in June and July 2025. These aircraft, registered as HB-VMM (msn 525-1197) and HB-VBN (msn 525-1201), will join Transwing’s expanding fleet. The operator’s aircraft will be available for charter on a floating basis. Additionally, Transwing plans to introduce managed aircraft services by 2026, further enhancing its offerings in the private aviation sector.
This development marks a significant step forward for Transwing as it continues to grow and diversify its fleet, positioning itself as a competitive player in the private jet charter market. The addition of the Citation M2 Gen2 aircraft will enhance the operator’s capabilities, allowing it to offer high-end private jet services for its clients. With its newly obtained AOC and fleet expansion plans, Transwing is poised to increase its presence in the private aviation industry.
